Our Lady of Manaoag
My family is a devotee of only two parishes. One is the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan and the other one is the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo. I haven’t asked yet my father on why he has chosen Manaoag. For the Antipolo church, it’s because my father was into a transportation business few years back where he was required to travel all the time so Our Lady of Peace and Voyage is a perfect fit.
We always make sure to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag every year. It’s usually during my parents’ birthday or my birthday. For the Antipolo Church, before my Kuya left for abroad, we used to attend mass here every first week of the month.
Because of this family tradition, I also became a devotee of Manaoag and of the Antipolo Church. I even did a “Alay Lakad” from our house to Antipolo. I can still remember the hardship my feet felt due to walking. I’ve tried all the styles of walking possible during that time. We did it with my cousins and my brothers. Since then we never tried it again. It was very tiring but it was worth it. :)
I have asked a lot of wishes to the two of them. A lot were granted and I’m really grateful. I can only remember 5 blessings I asked from the miraculous Shrine of Manaoag.
1. Please let me pass in Math 11. - That’s how hard Math in college is. Or maybe that’s how bobo I am in Math. lol I really prayed so hard to her to let me pass this subject. And she granted me that wish. Right after I return to Manila, I received my 2nd exam result. I got a high score! Of course it was a combination of prayer and hard work. :)
2. Please let me be part of JENESYS! - I was so nervous when I was applying for this programme. I thought that I wouldn’t be selected because duh? it’s a nationwide search. Only 200 lucky students will be given a chance to be  representatives of the Philippines and go to Japan for free! And I was one of those fortunate 7 students from NCR in Hokkaido Group who spent my summer strolling in the land of the rising sun.
3. Please don’t let me lose this special thing. - no details are available. I did not lose it. Thank you so much! :)
The other two wishes were not granted so I might as well not share it. :))
Of course along with my prayers to them are my prayers to God also. They are just messengers of my wishes to God. It’s still God who has been giving me with tremendous blessings ever since I was born. I’m always grateful even though I don’t show it that much. I have my own ways of showing him on how I feel towards all the blessings he’s been showering me. :)
